MUSTANG, Texas This tiny town founded in 1972 to provide a home for alcohol sales in Navarro County could lose its water service on Monday if residents don't find a way to pay the bill.

Without a property tax or residential water fees, the 40-person town of Mustang has relied on sales tax collected at the only two local businesses -- a strip club and a bar -- to pay its water bill.

But a legal dispute stemming from the sale of the town last year has resulted in the closing of both businesses and left residents with a $3,400 water tab.

"We really don't know what's going to happen," said Terrissa Korinek, an alderwoman for the town located just outside of Corsicana and about 60 miles southeast of Dallas. "If there's no water, what are we supposed to do?"

City leaders organized a Halloween haunted trail fund raiser in October, but it raised only a few hundred dollars.

Thomas Sinclair, operator of the local strip club and bar, purchased the town from its late co-founder, Willie McKie, last year. Within months, both sides alleged breaches of contract in lawsuits that are slowly moving toward a courtroom.

All of that makes the distinction between legal child photography and illegal child pornography a particularly subjective one. It may come down to, as the Justice Department's Alice Martin put it, seemingly ephemeral factors such as the poses the model strikes and the camera angles the photographer chooses.

"Prosecuting cases on this borderline presents difficult First Amendment problems," said Amy Adler, a New York University law professor who has written about pornography, culture and the law. "The sexy teenager is sort of a mainstream trope. It's very different from babies being molested, and child pornography law doesn't make a distinction."

That's no exaggeration: The same section of federal law punishes a pedophile who makes a video recording of a baby being molested, as well as someone who possesses an image of a 17-year-old striking an unlawfully racy pose.

Winnipeg's zoning bylaws could further limit where people can find adult entertainment. The current bylaw, which came into force in 1993, prevents adult video stores from setting up shop within 300 metres of residences, schools and churches.

The city is now proposing a new bylaw that could apply the same buffer zone to escort services, massage parlours, adult-only saunas, lingerie modeling studios and other adult entertainment venues, as well as keep all such establishments away from parks and recreation centres.

Imagine what you could do with erotic entertainment if you weren't bound by the laws of physics or 18 U.S.C. 2257.

By physics, of course, I mean the limitations of gravity, proportion, body mass. And by 18 U.S.C. 2257, I mean the federal law that requires every node in the pornography network to maintain records on every performer appearing in an adult film, including their real names, addresses and the probable sex of their first born.

At the moment, producers do not need to worry about either of those laws if their performers are computer-generated. And since illustration is the oldest form of pornography NSFW, it strikes me as ironic that despite the photographic and video capabilities of the digital age, drawing might prove to be the foundation of the Next Big Thing in entertainment.

"The adult industry is too stale," says Tahl Price, co-founder of Priceless Films NSFW, a 3-D modeling and animation studio based in a quiet gated community just off Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood hills. "Porn really needs to add some spice, to be more creative, more innovative."

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands - City officials say they will turn off the red lights and shutter a third of the prostitution "windows" in Amsterdam's famed Red Light District, where scantily-clad ladies of the night have beckoned customers for hundreds of years.

The move is part of a crackdown on crime in the area.

"We're not knights on a morality crusade, and this is intended to target financial crime, not prostitution per se," city spokesman Martien Maten said Thursday. "But we do think it will change the face of the Red Light District."

The Dutch government legalized prostitution in 2000 to make it easier to tax and regulate.

On Nov 27, Egotastic published uncensored photos of Britney Spears getting out of a car during a night of fun with gal pal Paris Hilton. It would have been just another paparazzi photo op if it weren't for the unclad crotch that Britney flashed, which up until now has been a product of fakes and fantasy. Within minutes of being posted on Egotastic, news services, gossip columns and the salivating hordes of celebrity leaches invaded, broadcasting news around the world that pictures of Britney Spears without panties are out. Within hours of the breaking news, Egotastic was brought down under the weight of the millions of fans and the curious. Even today, several days after the fact, connections to Egotastic are a hit and miss proposition.

Is this really what we have come to as a society? Why is Britney Spears, or any other celebrity for that matter, any different than the rest of us? And with so much porn on the net showing so much more, why the fuck does Britney's unclad snatch attract so much attention? I don't get it, who really gives a damn!

The spin is on with entertainment shows and commentators speculating that the crotch shots will play against Britney in her battle with Kevin 'Spineless' Federline, who will no doubt be fighting for money and custody for his lack of talent and inability to stand on his own like a man. My question is why? So what if Britney goes out on the town for the night and has some fun. Why shouldn't Britney have the same freedoms as the rest of us mere mortals? So what if Britney decided to go without panties, she's not the only one in this world who has let the breeze in, celebrity or not, and won't be the last.

As you can tell, I have more questions than answers here. What I do have is an opinion as one who has been around celebrities and the entertainment industry, even if in a minor capacity. First, IMHO, any judge that would consider those photos in a divorce battle would have to have her or his head examined. Britney has more than earned the right to enjoy a night on the town, to let loose and party. As for the crotch shots themselves, who gives a flying crap, they are nothing to write home about and have absolutely no significance in this world. After paying attention to the front covers of the national rags and watching a few episodes of ET, Access and the highly opinionated sensationalist news hosts, I have basically come to the conclusion that society is going stark raving mad.

With so much strife and horror in todays world, I'm starting to wonder if we as human beings have come to the crossroads where we no longer appreciate the simple things in life. It seems as though everywhere I turn, people are losing touch with what makes life worth living, filling their one moment on this earth with violent video games, celebrity rags filled with half truths and out right lies, creating second tier ethics by putting their rights and freedoms ahead of others. Believe it or not, there are millions of men and women around the world walking the streets without any underwear on, and I say good for them.

It's time for society to excise some of the corporate, commercial, political and religious propaganda from our lives and get back to what matters most. The entertainment industry is a marvelous world unto itself, a world where many of us find comfort, laughter and ideas on a regular basis. For this, I can only say thanks to the millions of performers, musicians, singers, writers and every other helping hand that has made it all possible, past and present. It's just that when I see otherwise normal people turn into vultures at the first sign of a nipple or some cunt, 'get a life' is the first thing that pops in my mind.

As for Britney Spears, party on girl!

REGINA (CP) - They're an unlikely group of calendar centrefolds - one owns a pharmacy and another a grocery store - but these pinups have come together to raise awareness about a pressing issue: potholes.

A dozen residents from Leader, Sask., have bared all in the 2007 Highway 32 Pothole Calendar. One man is pictured riding in a canoe in a pothole, another plants potatoes in a pothole and a third has a strategically placed hubcap.

On Aug. 13, thousands of scientists, doctors, human rights advocates, politicians, philanthropists and even celebrities descended on Toronto for the 16th International AIDS Conference.

Among those attending are former U.S. president Bill Clinton, philanthropists Bill and Melinda Gates, actors Richard Gere and Sandra Oh, UN AIDS director Dr. Peter Piot and Canadian Stephen Lewis -- the UN Special Envoy for AIDS in Africa.

The conference costs $20 million to mount and is set to bring $22 million into Toronto's tourism coffers.

Thousands of scientists from around the world will present their research findings on various subjects, including the latest efforts to produce an effective vaccine and the medication that is keeping millions of people infected with HIV alive.

The city of San Bernardino owes a strip club $1.4 million for losses the venue suffered when officials tried to shut it down.

A state appellate court has affirmed a jury's decision to award the damages to the all-nude venue, the Flesh Club. The club's owner's attorney Roger Jon Diamond says the city is also liable for interest on the verdict, as well as attorney's fees and interest on the attorney's fees.
